Deionization Services

Since 1985 Willamette Water Technology has been providing customers throughout the Pacific Northwest with DI services. In 1997 WWT became an authorized Culligan deionization batch plant facility. Because we are able to regenerate DI resins in-house, we are able to personally familiarize ourselves with your company’s resins and processes. Operating our own batch plant also allows us to control costs, passing the savings onto our customers. At WWT, we never send your resins to a third party for regeneration. WWT is set up to accommodate dedicated resin floats so there is never any “co-mingling” of resins.

Our customer base stretches beyond the Northwest. We now serve accounts in Alaska, Washington, Oregon, Idaho, California, Montana, and Wyoming. WWT also maintains several international key accounts.

WWT is one of the most price competitive DI producers in the country. If your processes require special attention or special regeneration practices, rest assured that WWT will make sure the job is done right the first time. Our attention to detail sets us above the competition. Our network of freight providers make it easy for our customers to ship and receive products in a timely and orderly fashion. Please contact us toll free at (800) 924-0343 for freight and shipping information.

What is Deionization?
The process of deionization is capable of reducing the quantity of dissolved minerals present in a water supply to less than 1.0 mg/l, depending on the nature of the input water and the model of deionizer used. Deionized water is used in a variety of applications where high quality water is required. These include humidification, drug and chemical manufacture, the rinsing of sophisticated electronic components, battery water, and laboratory uses, to name a few.

All deionization processes, regardless of type, employ both cation and anion resin. Cation resin, when put into the hydrogen form by regeneration with a strong mineral acid, such as hydrochloric acid (HCL), will remove positively charged ions (cation) such as calcium (Ca++), magnesium (Mg++), sodium (Na+), potassium (K+), and others by replacing them with hydrogen (H+). These cation exchange reactions convert all the anions into their corresponding acids. Anion resin, when put into the hydroxide form by regeneration with sodium hydroxide (NaOH), will remove negatively charged ions (anion) such as carbonate (Co3), bicarbonate ((HCO3), sulfate (SO4), chloride (Cl-), nitrate (NO3), silica (SiO2) and others by replacing them with hydroxide (OH-). This action makes water (H2O) when combining with the H+ ion from the acid formed by the cation resin.

The WWT High Purity Water Advantage.

No Capital Investment
You rent instead of buy, and conserve your capital. Rental fees are part of your operating costs, spread out over the time you use the service. Rental charges can be arranged to suit your needs – per tank, per gallon, or per regeneration.

No Labor Cost
No operator is required for Portable Deionization Services.

No Maintenance Cost
There is no equipment to operate, repair, or replace and no equipment downtime. Your local Culligan dealer owns and maintains the equipment.

No Chemicals, No Hazardous Wastes
All resin regenerations are handled by your local Culligan dealer. Your personnel do not handle any chemicals, making OSHA standards easier to meet. You do not have to dispose of wastes to meet EPA requirements or government pollution control ordinances.

Local Service, Local Knowledge
WWT is normally able to respond quickly to your emergencies or for routine service. Being familiar with water problems in your area, WWT is knowledgeable about local ordinances and regulations that affect water use and disposal.

Culligan Designed Regeneration Process Ensures Consistent Water Quality
Culligan dealers use proprietary regeneration systems, developed by Culligan Research and Development, for maximum efficiency and economy in resin regeneration and fast turnaround of tanks. This type of system allows WWT the option to dedicate not only tanks, but the resin itself to a particular customer so that your resins and tanks are not cross-contaminated by those of other customers.

WWT System Capability
WWT can add other processes such as softening, filtration and sterilization to meet your special needs. Portable exchange tank service can be used as a low-cost back-up for automatic de-mineralizers.
